The cleanliness of my room was very good. Even though the staff only speak little English, they try to answer your request with the best of their effert. Over all the experience was good in Hotel Trapemar.

The room was tiny, not terribly clean, but acceptable. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. One day when it was raining, they lent it an umbrella. It wasn't the hotel service, but a favor from the part of the staff.
The hotel staff did not know any English. At times I had to bang my head against a wall to convey a point! One of the nights, there was a loud party in their restaurant one floor below. A lot of singing and clapping and thumping. It was horrifying since I needed to catch some sleep and be fresh the next day. They offered drinking water. The bottles were unsealed. And they charged me for the water. The wireless wasn't great. It ran better on my pc. But my phone would keep getting disconnected, the connection would completely disappear every now and then, and every few minutes you would have to go to a separate log in page to recconect. It is not far from the metro. But the metro trains of Valencia are not too frequent (once every 15-20 min). There are plenty of shops around. But no good eating places. Most are shady looking bars. Of course no one in the shops knows a word of English. I would recommend this place to people who know Spanish and are on a budget.

The building is old and the rooms a bit run down, with broken light fixtures and the like. The rooms are also very small from US standards. Image the business hotels in Japan. However, they are kept very clean. The hotel staff is friendly, speak limited but sufficient English, and are willing to help you out in any way they can. The attached restaurant did not look very good so I never ate there and cannot comment. The location is within walking distance to the University of Valencia, so if you have business there, it is ideal. There is a tram station close by so getting out to town after work is also easy. There is no hair dryer in the room, so you need to take one with you. There is no fridge in the room, but the hotel staff will let you keep your stuff in the restaurant fridge, and use their microwave.
The broken light fixtures give the hotel a very run down impression, and they can be easily fixed. An information booklet and local map (in English) telling the guest where the closest supermarket, banks, restaurants, tram station, etc. are would be very helpful. They let me use the microwave in their restaurant kitchen, which provided me with an opportunity to step into their kitchen, and it was so dirty that I decided never to eat there. They need to improve their restaurant.
